General Responsibilities/Job Summary: Leadership in the areas of social emotional learning, MTSS, trauma informed practices, and early childhood learning and development, including the acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills, will be an essential part of this position. Knowledge of and adherence to district and state policies is expected.

The elementary school principal manages, supervises, and facilitates the daily operations and all functions of the elementary school. Additionally, he or she is an active participant in both district and building-level leadership team planning, goal-setting, and innovation. Duties include, but are not limited to: financial planning, student scheduling, instructional leadership, data review and analysis, supervision of teachers and staff, facilitation of professional development, curricular review and implementation, cultivation and maintenance of a positive school climate and environment, and proactive parent and community communications. Leadership in the areas of social emotional learning, MTSS, trauma informed practices, and early childhood learning and development, including the acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills, will be an essential part of this position. Essential Functions/Duties: -Builds positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the larger school community -Leads and administers all programs and operations in the school -Supervises and evaluates designated faculty and staff, completing performance management process including discussion with employees -Participates in the evaluations and recommendations for hire professional and support staff for the school -Recommends personnel actions including salary increases, promotions and job assignments for designated faculty and staff -Develops the school budget; supervises purchasing and tracks expenditures; operates within budget; and makes appropriate modifications in collaboration with the Business Office -Oversees the school climate and culture -Leads professional development and training of all staff in alignment with the district's mission and vision -Oversees safety and security in collaboration with the Safety & Security team -Partners with building and district administration to resolve significant challenges, including personnel concerns, student behavior issues, student growth and achievement, etc. -Maintains visibility throughout the building and the district -Collaborates with district and building administration to make final decisions regarding class scheduling and teacher assignments -Ensures the development of schedules and procedures for the school both during and after school hours when applicable -Uses a variety of data points to inform decision-making, including the design and implementation of effective curriculum, student programs, and instruction -Develops, promotes, and implements positive school-community relations programs -Communicates clearly, frequently, and proactively with students, parents, teachers, colleagues, and district administration -Attends to own professional development needs through attendance at IU events, national, state, and local workshops or conferences, book studies, graduate work etc. -Engages a variety of stakeholders in decision-making and problem-solving -Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge of early childhood development and its impact on student learning- -Knowledge of MTSS and the implementation of effective academic or behavioral interventions to improve student learning -Knowledge of the social-emotional needs of elementary students and how to implement structures and supports to aid whole child development -Skill in observing, evaluating, and coaching educational staff on best instructional practices -Ability to expeditiously learn and apply applicable Board policies -Ability to analyze data linked to student needs and develop tangible action plans for growth and improvement -Knowledge of applicable education law and regulations -Knowledge of effective positive behavior support places and restorative practices -Educational leadership skills -Decision-making skills -Planning and organization skills -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students, parents, educational staff, Board members and applicable community agencies -Strong interpersonal skills -Exceptional written and oral communication skills -Exceptional computer skills

Minimum Qualifications: Education and Training:

Master's Degree preferred Experience:

Five years of elementary teaching experience preferred Required Certification/Licenses:
