Summary
Support the manufacturing and engineering departments by producing various production and prototype components, fixtures, and tools.
Responsibilities Machine complex tooling and fixtures in collaboration with Manufacturing and Design Engineering teams. Create and proof CNC programs using Proto-Trak. Set up and operate manual machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, and saws. Set up and run CNC lathes (2 axis) and mills (2 axis) in both prototype and production environments. Set up and operate surface grinding machines. Develop, fabricate, and sharpen various cutting and specialty tools. Inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) features using basic and advanced inspection techniques. Cut open units to complete production operations. Assist shop management in training employees on common machine shop practices and company-specific processes and procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required:
High mechanical aptitude. Proficiency in trigonometry. Working knowledge of computers. Understanding of chip formation mechanics and metal cutting. Knowledge of ANSI/EIA RS - 274 ("G" code NC programs). High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. 5 years of experience in the trade as a tool maker. Experience or formal education in design/drafting with an emphasis on CAD. Resides within a reasonable commuting distance.
