Job Description
Following a recent organizational shift, Pyxus is consolidating HR leadership across North America under a single regional lead. As part of this transition, we're hiring a seasoned HR Senior Manager to support both agricultural manufacturing operations and corporate functions across the region. This role will report directly to the VP of Global HR Governance, Technology, & People Services, who also serves as the strategic HRBP lead for North America.
The HR Senior Manager will serve as a trusted partner to site and corporate leadership, facilitating strategic HR sessions, supporting talent and organizational initiatives, and acting as a visible backup for the Corporate Leadership Team. This role blends hands-on execution with strategic influence, offering meaningful scope, visibility, and leadership engagement.
Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership Facilitate leadership sessions, town halls, and development conversations across North America. Serve as a strategic HR partner to agricultural manufacturing operations and corporate leaders. Act as a backup representative for the Corporate Leadership Team in HR-related matters. Lead and execute HR initiatives aligned with organizational goals and cultural values. Talent & Organizational Development
Support regional talent and performance efforts-including succession planning, development conversations, employee relations, and policy interpretation. Contribute to organizational design initiatives, assessing structure, role clarity, and workforce alignment. Implement and deliver development programs that foster career growth, build capabilities, and promote internal mobility. Provide input on talent-related data and trends to inform workforce planning and leadership development. Operational Excellence
Ensure timely, accurate execution of HR tasks and workflows-balancing strategic deliverables with documentation and system integrity. Coordinate with HR Shared Services and functional partners (Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Payroll) to ensure seamless execution of regional HR cases. Manage tactical legal workflows in partnership with internal counsel, including terminations, separation agreements, and worker claims. Recognition & Engagement
Lead administration of the CEO STAR award program, including nominations, budget planning, and communications. Manage the region's peer-to-peer recognition platform (AwardCo), ensuring alignment with broader recognition strategy. Reporting & Systems
Prepare and deliver regional HR reports and insights for executive presentations, board-level materials, and strategic planning. Leverage Oracle HCM to inform workforce planning, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making. Participate in transactional HR workflows, including terminations, promotions, and job changes, as either a data enterer or escalated approver. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with global HR colleagues to ensure consistency and compliance across geographies. Support role clarity and organizational alignment through job architecture and leveling frameworks. Travel regularly to agricultural and manufacturing sites to build relationships and ensure HR presence on the ground. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. 7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a multi-site or international context. Demonstrated experience supporting agricultural or manufacturing environments. Proven ability to facilitate leadership sessions and represent HR at the executive level. Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law; familiarity with Canadian and Guatemalan labor practices a plus. Experience with talent management processes, organizational design, and internal mobility programs. Proficiency in Oracle HCM and ADP Workforce Now. Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Strong public speaking and facilitation skills. Experience managing recognition programs and preparing executive-level HR reports. SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification preferred. Bilingual proficiency is a plus-Spanish and/or Haitian Creole. Travel approximately 60%, primarily within North Carolina, with occasional travel to Canada or Guatemala.
