Glens Falls City School District has an opening for a district-wide Building Maintenance Helper. This is a 12- month position. Working hours will typically be Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm, but may vary if needed.
Our Maintenance Helper will assist other maintenance and grounds employees in keeping Glens Falls' school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. These valuable staff members promote the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and on the grounds by maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
Typical Work Activities Include, But Not Limited To: Performs a wide variety of physically demanding and routine maintenance tasks related to the operation, maintenance and alteration of buildings, grounds, parking areas, sewer, water, electrical, and HVAC equipment. Assists with minor carpentry work in the repair of windows, doors, walls, furniture, etc.; Assists with minor electrical and plumbing repairs and installations; Performs interior and exterior painting as directed; Performs routine preventive maintenance of equipment as directed; Uses common hand or power-operated machines and tools; Moves furniture, equipment and supplies; Assists in the removal of snow and ice using motorized and manual equipment and the sanding of icy sidewalks at all buildings; May perform a variety of grounds maintenance tasks; May perform other common laboring and custodial duties; Willingness to work overtime or flexible shifts as needed.
