Job Summary
The PLC/Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, and control systems within the brewery. This includes ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all process control equipment to support brewing, fermentation, and packaging operations.
Duties and Responsibilities Instrumentation and Control System Maintenance : Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair on a variety of process instruments including:
Conductivity probes : Endress+Hauser, Georg Fischer Turbidity sensors : Optek Dissolved Oxygen (DO) sensors : Mettler Toledo, Hach Density meters : Anton Paar Pressure transmitters : Rosemount, Endress+Hauser, IFM Level sensors and flow meters : Magnetic and mass flow meters Control valves : Valtek/Flowserve, Burkert, Fisher, Tuchenhagen
PLC Programming and Troubleshooting :
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with PLC hardware and software. Modify and program PLCs to optimize brewery processes. Experience with
Allen Bradley PLC's, Modicon, RS ControlLogix, and Studio 5000
is essential.
SCADA and HMI Systems :
Maintain and troubleshoot
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
and
Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
systems. Experience with
Proleit
and
Wonderware
is a highly desirable. This position leans heavily into Proleit.
Electrical and Mechanical Systems :
Work on electrical systems including
Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
and
480V power distribution . Troubleshoot and repair
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
from manufacturers like
Danfoss and Allen Bradley . Maintain and calibrate both
4-20 mA
and
3-15 psi
control loops.
Networking and Communication :
Diagnose and repair industrial communication networks, including
Ethernet -based systems.
Safety and Compliance : Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required Experience in electrical troubleshooting with high-speed manufacturing, preferred Knowledge of common machining tools including lathes, mills, presses, and grinders Demonstrated skills in hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pumps, laser alignment, power transmission, precision measuring tools Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and effectively use the Internet, as well as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience, preferred Strong verbal and written communication skills
