Position Title: Director of TRiO Student Support Services

Job Duties:

Leads the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of one or more academic programs to ensure effectiveness in meeting strategic, departmental, and student development goals. Manages the program budget and outreach activities and supervise program staff. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

The director is responsible for fulfilling the grant objectives for the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program, by providing leadership and oversight of the SSS program, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations, institutional, and state policies. The director manages program operations, fiscal accountability, staff supervision, and assessment to promote student success. This includes overseeing the comprehensive provision of services to eligible student participants. These services encompass advising, tutoring, mentorship, career and personal development as well as various educational experiences aimed at fostering student achievement and belonging through graduation.

This is a grant funded position through the Department of Education for the period of 9/25/2025-9/24/2030. This is an academic staff appointment that will be reviewed annually and is contingent on continuation of funding by the U.S. Department of Education.

Key Job Responsibilities: Assists stakeholders with preparing and/or maintaining documentation, financial management, and/or reporting requirements related to sponsored grants, contracts, or agreements Provides full service advising resources and services, provides information about educational options and academic requirements, and communicates directly with students regarding all aspects of the advising process Manages degree programs and/or certificates, high impact practice programming and events, and curriculum development and implementation Leads the development and implementation of academic program initiatives May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees Serves as the liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups to identify and maintain academic program-related partnerships Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and academic program objectives Evaluates existing academic program strategy and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement May manage the unit budget and approve unit expenditures Department:

Compensation:

Minimum $55,000 annually based on education and experience

Required Qualifications:

MS/MA required in higher education administration, counseling, social work or another relevant field Minimum 3 years administrative, advising, or teaching experience in higher education A minimum of one year supervising students or a full-time professional staff Significant experience working with students at academic risk, first generation, low-income students, or persons with disabilities Demonstrated experience or evidence of effective interpersonal communication skills that demonstrate the ability to work with and build rapport with students, university partners, and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with TRIO programs or other grant-funded programs A minimum of two years of experience as a supervisor of at least one full-time person A minimum of two years of experience with grant funded units or related Budget experience Have five or more years of administrative, advising, or teaching experience in higher education Demonstrated knowledge of student assessment related to academic achievement Demonstrated computer skills in working with student record keeping databases (i.e., Peoplesoft, Navigate or similar system), data analysis skills, and MS Office Suite.

Terms of Employment:

This is a full-time, grant funded position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
