Position Overview Project Engineer

in Minneapolis, MN. Responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to current manufacturing processes across multiple manufacturing sites.

Base Pay Range $85,077 – $135,898 per year.

Critical Success Criteria

Applies sound engineering principles to the design of manufacturing equipment.

Develops working knowledge of existing processes and leverages both internal and external subject matter expertise to advance projects.

Effectively leads equipment design projects by developing technical expertise, creating and/or reviewing designs, and managing project deliverables through commissioning.

Works safely in lab and manufacturing environments and follows EHS procedures.

Identifies, evaluates, and implements new technology into the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

Develop mechanical and process designs for new equipment.

Develop installation specifications and commissioning plans for new equipment.

Organize and manage multiple projects to ensure high quality and timely service.

Update documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, equipment drawings) based on field verifications.

Work closely with Process, Reliability, Maintenance Engineers and department managers to build consensus for upcoming changes.

Conduct cost analysis and manage project costs.

Attend consortium meetings, conferences, vendor presentations, and training courses to gather improvement opportunities.

Perform and document experiments and/or equipment trials to determine viability.

Collaborate with Training Department to develop training for new equipment or process changes.

Respond promptly and effectively to business needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or closely related engineering.

5+ years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial R&D or military environments.

Experience with developing specifications, testing and installing custom equipment.

Experience working with engineering designers, equipment fabricators and on‑site contractors.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to champion change, promote a positive team atmosphere and sustain continuous improvement.

Highly self‑motivated, able to work under pressure, with urgency and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical proficiency with 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks).

Experience generating, updating and organizing engineering documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, drawings).

Experience using project management software (Microsoft Project or similar).

Experience in a mining and/or metals environment.

Experience with furnaces or high‑temperature equipment.

Compensation Information Eligible for a short‑term incentive plan based on strategic objectives. Salary determined by qualifications, experience, location and market conditions.
