Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for supervising nursing students in the clinical environment, evaluating their performance, grading assignments under the supervision of an assigned master’s prepared faculty, and assisting students with patient care skills practice in on‑site skills labs.

It may include assignments in a variety of times and locations, including online or dual‑credit/early‑college classes, in response to institutional need.

Requires evidence of CPR, yearly tuberculin skin tests, and other required immunizations per nursing program policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and 5 years of clinical work experience. Assist in course instruction under the supervision of master’s or doctoral‑prepared faculty to ensure course content and objectives are met.

OR

Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Nursing and 3 years of clinical work experience. Teach nursing courses to include clinical supervision in health care facilities of 10–15 students, per Texas Board of Nursing requirements.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas (certification required). Current CPR/BLS certification required. Current negative TB test and other immunizations required.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).

5 years of clinical work experience.

Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.

Job Duties

Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.

Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.

Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

Coordinate with clinicians at the clinical site to assign student patient cases.

Assist students in performing duties in the clinical site and answer their questions.
