The City is now offering a
$16,000
signing bonus for lateral police officers! Paid in three installments: $5,000 on the first paycheck following hire, $5,000 after successful completion of the field training program, and $6,000 after successful completion of the probationary period. This bonus is in addition to the competitive wages outlined below. Lateral Police Officer:
Must be an experienced police officer at the time of testing with a valid police officer certification per Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center’s requirements. Salary Add-Ons:
Education Incentive Pay (as of January 1, 2022): 2% for AA/AS, 4% for BA/BS Physical Fitness Incentive Pay: 1% of monthly salary after passing physical fitness test Longevity Incentive Pay: 3% at 5 years, 4.5% at 10 years, 5.5% at 15 years, 6.5% at 20 years, 8% at 25 years Specialty Incentive Pay (monthly rate of pay): Detective (4%), Corporal (6.5%), Range Master (2%), Crime Prevention Officer (2%), Traffic Officer (3%), Special Operations Team (1%), Field Training Officer (4%), School Resource Officer (2%) Positions involve general duty and investigative police work, including responding to assistance requests, investigating crimes, apprehending suspects, and law enforcement duties in accordance with departmental policies. Tasks include patrol, investigation, traffic enforcement, and potentially assisting in detention center operations. Applicants must meet educational and licensing requirements, including a high school diploma or GED, and possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with a clean record. Applicants must pass written and oral tests, a background check, and meet physical and medical requirements. Automatic disqualifiers include recent traffic violations, drug use, criminal convictions, and other specified criteria.
