Scientist – Synectics Inc.
Join our Analytical Development team at Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA. We are searching for a highly motivated Scientist to support product and process understanding for biological entities from discovery through commercial stages.
Responsibilities
Develop, qualify, and execute analytical methods for biologics.
Perform mass spectrometry analyses (intact/reduced mass analysis, peptide mapping) to provide sequence verification and PTM profiles.
Independently conduct separation methods (fractionation and variant analysis) using HPLC and AKTA.
Perform biophysical characterization (DSC, spectroscopy, other biophysical assays) on biologics.
Design and execute experiments for method development and investigations.
Support process development through raw material analysis using vibrational spectroscopy and metabolomics experiments via mass spectrometry.
Generate and communicate precise, reliable, and reproducible data in a timely manner.
Organize and document experiments and results in an electronic laboratory notebook.
Draft protocols, method development reports, and technical characterization reports.
Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters in chemistry, biology, biochemistry or related discipline with 5+ (BS) or 2+ (MS) years of relevant experience in biotech/pharma.
Hands‑on experience with protein mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis and protein biophysical characterization.
Knowledge of HPLC and AKTA instrumentation.
Fundamental understanding of protein structure, PTMs, and analytical methods used for protein characterization.
Working knowledge of bioinformatics tools for mass spectrometry data analysis (desirable).
Proficient with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and oral communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
Hardworking and motivated to drive efficiency and quality.
Ability to understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and material handling.
