Role Description AMD is searching for engineering talent to set and drive future systems level vision and technical requirements for the AMD Data Center Systems Group (DSG). The role involves working with seasoned system architects and strategists across hardware and software, from node to rack level design, BIOS and security, cloud‑native computing, memory technologies, high‑performance fabrics, AI/ML, server/storage, cloud, and more. The DSG Architecture and Strategy team drives technical strategy to inform AMD’s Enterprise products, collaborating with internal stakeholders, customers, end users, and strategic partners.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with SoC design teams and product management to provide a unified and clear platform/system level vision to influence AMD’s SoC roadmap.
Drive reference platform requirements and collaborate with engineering on internal/external execution.
Drive workload and application‑level strategies internally and with industry partners/ecosystem.
Represent AMD datacenter system level vision in industry consortiums, events, and strategic partnerships, driving industry standards.
Work with OEMs, end customers, ISV/IHV partners to define joint roadmap based on workload and use case plans.
Required Qualifications
Broad and deep system technology background with experience developing, influencing, and collaborating on strategy.
Ability to translate highly technical concepts into actionable plans.
Hands‑on experience creating proof of concepts and collecting data.
Exceptional communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
Analytical mindset for evaluating tradeoffs and recommending solutions with technical, business, and financial impact.
Experience guiding product definition using customer and partner insights.
Relationship building with strategic customers and partners to ensure AMD enterprise and embedded products meet evolving market needs.
Collaboration skills across engineering, product management, and business development.
Preferred Experience
Lead hardware architect/engineer for enterprise compute platforms in AI/ML, cloud, storage, HPC.
Deep understanding of computer architectures based on CPUs; X86 experience highly desired.
Architecting platforms for AI/ML accelerators and corresponding workloads.
High‑speed digital design and interconnect expertise; knowledge of PCIe, CxL, GenZ, Ethernet, InfiniBand, NVMeoF.
Experience designing datacenter platform and rack‑level power and cooling infrastructure.
Active participation in industry standards organizations.
Academic Credentials BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Location Team based out of Austin, Texas. Remote applicants considered.
