Advanced Systems Engineer – Honeywell
Location: Phoenix, Arizona (Hybrid work schedule)
Job Description As an Advanced APU Controls Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, and integrate highly complex control systems for Honeywell’s Engines & Power Systems APU business. Your expertise will be used to design and optimize the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) control system, ensuring efficient and reliable operation and directly impacting the success and growth of our business.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements analysis and decomposition
Control system design, integration, and validation & verification
Model‑based development system design
Customer interaction
Project oversight, coordination, and budget/schedule management
Collaboration with cross‑functional teams
Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
4+ years of systems engineering experience supporting safety‑critical aerospace development
2 years of control system design and optimization
U.S. citizenship (required due to contractual obligations)

Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices
Advanced understanding of the systems development lifecycle
Strong problem‑solving, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience leading diverse, global teams
Experience with gas turbine engine control system components (controller, harness, start motor, sensors, etc.)
Self‑motivation to work independently and take initiative
Ability to adapt to new information and change course as needed
Excellent multitasking and autonomous decision‑making skills
