The position is embedded on-site at Eastern Shipbuilding, Port St. Joe, FL, overseeing the final completion, integration, and delivery of two advanced 400-Class MPSVs for Hornbeck Offshore Services.

Background check, drug screening and US citizenship are requirements of this position. Contingent on client approval.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering design teams and Production personnel to ensure designs are implementable and installation-ready.

Embed on the vessels to monitor production progress, identify potential design/production conflicts, and coordinate solutions before issues impact schedule or budget.

Interpret and verify engineering drawings, system schematics, and installation packages for compliance with design intent, ABS, USCG, and project specifications.

Track, review, and manage design change implementations, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into ongoing production.

Support installation, integration, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, piping, propulsion, and auxiliary systems.

Provide technical guidance to production teams and subcontractors during outfitting and integration of complex shipboard systems.

Coordinate with QA/QC, Planning, and Engineering teams to ensure punch lists, change orders, and system verifications are completed accurately and timely.

Facilitate communication and progress reporting with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and Owner’s representatives.

Support harbor tests, dock trials, and sea trials readiness, collaborating with Testing & Trials personnel.

Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

Extensive experience with offshore support vessel systems: propulsion, thrusters, power generation, hydraulics, HVAC, fire main, ballast, fuel systems, and automation controls.

Strong working knowledge of ABS, USCG, and IMO compliance standards.

Proven experience in vessel completion, commissioning, and delivery within commercial or government shipyards.

Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, system diagrams, and vendor technical manuals.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with shipyard project management tools preferred.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work on-site full-time at Eastern Shipbuilding’s Port St. Joe and/or Allanton, FL facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with Hornbeck Offshore vessels or similar class MPSVs, OSVs, or offshore construction vessels.

Background in shipyard engineering support, production liaison, or field engineering for new construction or major conversions.

Familiarity with Primavera P6, AutoCAD, or shipyard ERP systems.

Education/Certification Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field – OR – minimum 10 years of marine engineering field experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore vessel integration.
