The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Midlevel Mechanical Engineer for advanced power generation design. In this role you will have the opportunity to:

Work collaboratively with design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad

Under general supervision, perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems

Acquire knowledge of Black & Veatch and industry standards and implement them in project development

Prepare moderately complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop project design recommendations

The Team The Mechanical Engineering Department is a global team delivering high‑quality, on‑time design and services in power, gas, fuels & chemicals, water, data centers, and mining, covering all aspects of process and power projects and mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Instrument and/or Service Air Systems

Demineralized (DM) water supply and make‑up systems

Service and potable water supply system

Natural, hydrogen, and nitrogen gas Supply System

Closed cycle cooling water system

High Pressure / Intermediate Pressure / Low / Auxiliary Steam system

Feedwater and condensate systems

CO2 Supply System

Calculations: pipe sizing, pipe thickness, pump sizing, control valve sizing, heat exchanger sizing, atmospheric tank sizing, etc.

P&ID development

Air, gas, water & steam systems design and engineering

Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program and a minimum of 1 year of related work experience. All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements such as background checks, drug screening, and motor‑vehicle record searches.

Certifications Engineering‑in‑training (EIT)

Work Environment and Schedule

Typical office environment; prolonged sitting and computer use; focus on detail; physical tasks during site visits may include crouching, grasping, standing/walking for extended periods.

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and job assignments.
