What to Expect Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support launch quality activities for Tesla's growing number of vehicle products and lines. This position will report to the Manufacturing Quality Engineering team within Tesla's Vehicle Engineering organization. The Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer will provide support to the team in the execution of quality goals and objectives during and after the launch phase for new products and lines. You will be expected to work cross-functionally and support the identification and prioritization of potential product and process failures and help drive both corrective and preventative actions.

What You'll Do

Key authority of design for quality from CAD Integration phase through first customer deliveries as an expert of automated manufacturing systems

Partner with multiple factory-sustaining quality teams to ensure a smooth hand-off from pre-production quality to sustaining quality activities

Support various teams during vehicle launches with the goal of implementing quality improvements and exceeding build quality targets

Provide support during cross-functional review / roll-out of PFMEAs; provide input on control plans tailored to each new line

Support definition of quality and process requirements as a part of Tesla's global operating standards

Partner with design and manufacturing engineering counterparts to translate design requirements into part design poka-yokes and layered factory controls that can withstand the demands of high-volume production

Analyze manufacturing processes and product specifications in order to determine best practices that meet or exceed Tesla's quality standards

What You'll Bring

Degree in Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience

8+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, quality or a manufacturing-related industry preferred

Extensive knowledge and experience with automotive systems and part design trade-offs

Excellent communication skills to explain complicated issues and trade-offs in a manner understandable to a non-technical expert

Excellent problem-solver with a strong quality and customer-focused mindset

Experience in automotive high-volume quality manufacturing engineering or process engineering a plus
