Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate
Veterinary Orthopedic Surgeon
to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be board-certified (or board-eligible) in veterinary surgery with
advanced expertise in orthopedic and soft tissue procedures.
This role is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and performing surgical interventions for musculoskeletal conditions and soft tissue in small animals, collaborating with other veterinarians and technicians to ensure the highest level of patient care and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of orthopedic surgeries, including fracture repair, cruciate ligament repair (TPLO, TTA, extracapsular), arthroscopy, joint stabilization, and corrective osteotomies.
Conduct comprehensive orthopedic evaluations, diagnostics, and consultations.
Collaborate with referring veterinarians and internal specialists to develop optimal treatment plans.
Interpret and utilize diagnostic imaging such as radiographs, CT, and MRI.
Provide clear communication and education to pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and post-operative care.
Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians, surgical staff, and residents
Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Participate in continuing education and contribute to advancing surgical standards and protocols.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
Board certification or board eligibility in Veterinary Surgery (ACVS or ECVS preferred).
Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in small animal orthopedic surgery (post-residency preferred).
Proven proficiency with orthopedic equipment and surgical instrumentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment to compassionate, client-centered veterinary care.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Advanced experience with arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures.
Experience in a high-paced specialty and emergency veterinary hospital setting.
Familiarity with advanced imaging technologies.
Strong teamwork orientation with ability to collaborate in a multi-specialty environment.
