Position Summary The UNC Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Neurology are seeking a full‑time pediatric clinical neuropsychologist to join our existing Neuropsychology fixed term faculty. Rank is based on experience and qualifications. This position will provide neuropsychological assessment and consultation services to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a variety of neuro‑cognitive and neuro‑behavioral impairments. Clinical services are provided within UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, and in our outpatient clinics. Our neuropsychologists work closely with interdisciplinary treatment teams and other UNC departments/programs, including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Hematology/Oncology, and many others, as well as community providers.
Typical diagnoses prompting referral for pediatric assessments include traumatic brain injury (TBI), acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, sickle cell disease, neurogenetics, oncology treatment, and other forms of brain dysfunction. We also provide surgical evaluations for epilepsy. Our Neuropsychology program provides training experiences for graduate students, psychology interns, and fellows as well as resident physicians, and clinical teaching is a valued part of our work. Faculty will also be expected to participate in administrative activities and research associated with their academic appointment and areas of expertise.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements Qualified candidates will have their PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology/neuropsychology. The successful candidate will also have completed an APA‑approved clinical internship with a neuropsychology emphasis, have at least two years of supervised postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology, and will be licensed or license‑eligible in the state of North Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care.
