Position Overview This position provides electrical technical support to the maintenance engineering department, supporting capital and expense projects, maintenance functions, and production lines. The role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for adhering to all safety, health, and environmental matters.
Responsibilities
Support the electrical engineer with capital or expense project work
Keep track of and effectively communicate the current status of project work
Assist the electrical maintenance supervisor with production issues or electrical plant upgrades
Write capital requests for projects that are capital upgrades or spares
Assist electricians with troubleshooting operational issues on the line
Update AutoCAD drawings so they remain current in our database
Manage contractor relationships on site at various levels
Oversee small to moderate project work (≤ $50 K), including upgrades and obsolescence replacements
Assist in training electricians on class advancement requirements
Maintain up‑to‑date data on maintenance tablets
Perform regular quality control checks to ensure each component of the project meets the company’s high standards
Participate as a member of the team that inspects new and altered machinery during commissioning
Contribute to the reliability pillar’s initiatives for improving Technical Mean Time Between Failure as needed
Provide ideas for improvements and help identify areas needing electrical maintenance
Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage
Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities
Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions
Conduct weekly SMAT Audits or any other requirements as requested by the Manager
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred or appropriate combination of academic equivalent and 3‑5 years of experience in electrical technical support (troubleshooting, component replacement, PLC work) in a manufacturing environment preferred
Strong computer skills, including effective reporting with business operations tools and MS Excel
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and management teams, defining clear vision, goals and service standards
Ability to manage projects and work independently
Professional problem‑solving skills and composure in high‑stress situations
Ability to shift between functions and multitask throughout the workday
