Project Manager

Lead and manage technical projects of moderate to complex scope, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, procurement, and client satisfaction. Projects focus on process and non-process contaminated demolition.
Pay Range:
$84,576 – $157,464 Annually (TSS 2)
$101,376 – $188,880 Annually (TSS 3)
Hybrid schedule: flexibility to work from home one or more days per week after a probationary period. Specific office and virtual work days vary by team needs.
Job Description The Project Management Office (PMO) provides LLNL with engineering, design, estimating, construction, demolition, and project management services. PMO delivers infrastructure services to support cutting‑edge research and development in defense technologies, global security, laser science, bioscience, and more.
You Will
Lead and manage project teams to deliver projects on schedule, within cost and quality objectives, meeting client functional criteria and critical mission needs.
Develop, maintain, and manage project management plans, including execution, procurement, quality, subcontracting, and safety/health plans.
Organize and facilitate small-to-medium sized multi-discipline meetings, summarizing, assigning, and distributing action items.
Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, earned value parameters, change control actions, weekly and monthly status reports, and documentation suitable for audit review.
Research, analyze, and resolve issues in project scope and functional requirements, recommending solutions using established project management practices.
Communicate project status to stakeholders, resolve issues, and deliver presentations to customers, sponsors, and senior managers.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, DOE representatives, and clients to meet project objectives and resolve technical and performance challenges.
Ensure compliance with LLNL safety programs, standards, and DOE regulations on all assigned projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Manage and direct moderately complex technical efforts to define scope, estimate, procure, and deliver assigned projects.
Represent the organization as the technical resource on tasks and projects.
Exercise advanced problem‑solving abilities to recommend and implement innovative solutions to project challenges.
Mentor or oversee the activities of less‑experienced personnel in project management practices.
Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q‑level security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Applied Sciences, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, practices, methodologies, and tools, including scheduling, cost estimating, and baseline control; experience preparing and managing project budgets, schedules, and technical reviews.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, with demonstrated experience applying independent judgment to developing solutions.
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate in multi‑disciplinary teams and handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to present/explain project information/plans and provide advice to management and sponsors.
Proficiency with project management and business software (e.g., MS Office, scheduling and cost‑control tools).
Familiarity with DOE Orders 413.3 Appendix D, 435.1 and 10 CFR 835.
Familiarity with 49 CFR, DTSC, DOT or other regulations/regulatory agencies related to waste shipping and disposition.
Additional Qualifications At The TSS.3 Level
Significant experience conducting technical reviews and managing complex budgets for capital projects.
Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to apply novel approaches and innovative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to represent the organization as a technical resource, serve on internal committees, and provide advanced advice to management and sponsors.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate, facilitate, and influence across organizational boundaries.
Desired Qualifications
Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, PG, or equivalent.
Experience managing DOE, DOD, or other federal government projects.
Experience with facility demolition, site remediation, or hazardous category environments.
Security Clearance This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q‑level clearance. If selected, a federal background investigation will be conducted to determine eligibility for classified information access. All L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q‑level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
