Assistant Professor, Nursing (Full-time)
Faculty members are primarily teachers and are responsible for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to expend about three-quarters of their time in teaching responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, evaluate and revise the nursing program curriculum in accordance with accreditation requirements and national nursing standards.
Teach and coordinate activities related to the nursing program, including classroom and clinical instruction, skill laboratory, simulation lab, and clinical practice sites. Participate in reviewing and instituting new nursing sites for clinical practice.
Maintain competency in all designated teaching areas by participating in continuing education programs to maintain expertise in nursing theory and practice.
Maintain a professional attitude as an individual and as a faculty member. Mentor part‑time nursing faculty and serve as a role model for nursing students.
Evaluate nursing students in both classroom and clinical areas and provide recommendations on progression and retention.
Maintain office hours as per the faculty contract for student consultation at times convenient to students. Advise nursing program students and college‑wide nursing and allied health students on course selection and progression. Provide professional and academic assistance to nursing program‑assigned advisees.
Participate in college, department, and nursing faculty committee meetings. Accept contributory and leadership roles in committee service. Fulfill duties and responsibilities required for the ongoing maintenance of state and national program accreditation.
Participate in the recruitment and retention of nursing and health science students.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing.
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey.
Master's degree in Nursing Education preferred.
Experience
Minimum two years of clinical experience caring for adult clients.
Minimum two years of teaching experience preferred.
Experience with the program accreditation process preferred.
Terms of Employment Position requires flexible scheduling to include teaching day, evening, and weekend sections at any Atlantic Cape location.
