Alternative Delivery Senior Project Manager
(SPM) to join our growing engineering firm. This position will be based in our Nashville (TN) Office. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth and possessing good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The
Alternative Delivery
SPM
is a professional with expertise in managing multidisciplined alternative delivery projects. Individuals in this role apply sound judgment in a broad spectrum of diversified procedures and objectives. They develop innovative solutions to problems encountered and may be able to perform difficult and technically challenging work within their specialty.
The
Alternative Delivery SPM
is both a leader and a working manager, actively involved in the project day-to‑day, and will coordinate the work activities of multidiscipline teams. They are responsible for managing all aspects of a project from proposal to as‑builts/closeout, to include scope, budget, schedule, and quality control, while fostering key relationships with owner agencies, contractors, clients, and subconsultants. Hybrid work option available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to serve as the primary point of contact for clients and partners, ensuring strong relationships, effective communication, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Leads project procurement processes for alternative delivery projects, including the preparation of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), Responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs).
Oversees development of project plans, scope, schedule, budget, invoicing, and resource allocation.
Maintains responsibility for the financial success of assigned projects.
Works and engages with assigned project teams; may make major design recommendations as necessary.
Coordinates the activity of the internal and external project team(s).
Assists in guiding internal teams on alternative delivery best practices, contract mechanisms, and compliance requirements.
Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of the work assigned.
Uses personal work plans to carry out assignments, including revisions to accelerate or slow down a project when needed.
Responsible for complete familiarity with the company’s project management reporting requirements and for compliance with QA/QC procedures.
Overnight, out-of-town travel may be required.
Assists in marketing efforts and developing relationships with clients.
Supervision of team members and mentoring of staff.
Reports directly to Senior Transportation Design Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS The
Alternative Delivery SPM
must be capable of independently performing most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education, Experience, And Registration
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager delivering alternative delivery projects.
Strong understanding of Design‑Build, P3, CMGC, and PDB methodologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
DBIA certification is a plus but not required.
Strong understanding of DOT design criteria and experience with the Tennessee Department of Transportation is a plus.
Experience with OpenRoads Design (ORD) to develop model(s) and produce plans, is a plus.
