Position Summary:
Load Planners coordinate all processes and functions of freight movement and customer service. They process customer orders, plan and optimize shipments into loads using Transportation Manager System, tender freight to third‑party carriers, update the system with current shipment information, and respond to internal and external customer inquiries. Load Planners also provide visibility to management and the customer by tracking, overseeing operations, auditing, researching, and troubleshooting operational issues.
Shift:
Monday thru Friday 10:30 am – 7:00 pm
Bilingual (English & Spanish)
Major Responsibilities:
Load‑building – adding shipments to a load, rating a load, securing carrier coverage, and appointment setting. Monitoring and resolving MCP email messages. Identifying shipping opportunities for improved performance such as truckload multi‑stops and consolidated shipments.
Providing excellent customer service to assigned account(s).
Managing call center and shared email box responsibilities.
Tracking shipments, overseeing audit processes, investigating load exceptions, researching and troubleshooting operational issues.
Recovering customer loads.
Completing daily logs and trackers; providing detailed instructions for customers and associates from other shifts by phone and e‑mail.
Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
Bilingual in English & Spanish.
One plus year of experience in Transportation/Supply Chain preferred.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn and operate various computer systems across different platforms.
Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers and Penske associates.
Critical thinking and decision‑making skills within SOP framework.
Flexibility to work first, second, and third shifts as needed.
Willingness to travel as necessary and complete required background, employment, and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
The job requires reading, communicating verbally and/or in written form, remembering and analyzing information, standing, walking, and sitting. The associate must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg) occasionally and handle tasks that may involve hand use, reaching, and vision (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception).
