Position Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the preventive maintenance program and ensuring compliance of processes and equipment with all regulatory requirements. This position plays a key role in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities with a focus on lean manufacturing. The Maintenance Manager will develop and mentor maintenance staff and serve as Valley Milk, LLC’s contact for EPA, City, and County Officials regarding energy, air, and water quality compliance. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Accountable for the preventive maintenance program and maintenance of production equipment and facility. Develop, train, maintain, and administer an organization qualified to maintain all equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient working condition. Ensure compliance of the Valley Milk, LLC Wastewater Treatment facility with all city, county, state, and federal regulations. Manage systems and procedures to ensure all operating equipment remains in optimal working condition. Ensure production equipment operates within manufacturer specifications and tolerances. Consult with Manufacturing Equipment Designers, Process Engineers, Control Design Engineers, and the Production Department regarding modifications for continuous improvement. Conduct cost studies for capital expenditures related to facilities and process equipment to achieve reduced operating costs. Coordinate with production management and third-party project engineers to ensure efficient operation of utilities, including electric power, natural gas, water, and waste treatment. Oversee maintenance and efficient operation of all plant transportation-related equipment (e.g., forklifts, man-lifts). Manage purchasing for engineering, maintenance, and controls. Develop objectives and performance standards for departmental projects to meet company goals. Oversee procurement and inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies, maintaining budget compliance. Manage processes for maintaining equipment and facility records, manuals, and schematic drawings. Ensure all installations and modifications meet or exceed USDA, FDA, OSHA, ADA, and EPA standards and comply with company policies, including SQF certification. Ensure departmental personnel receive HAZMAT 24-hour certification training. Adhere to all Valley Milk LLC Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformities. Lead implementation of DIMO for parts inventory ordering and management. Manage all capital projects. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. May be required to work outside of normal business hours to support maintenance activities or emergency repairs. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and working with machinery. Other duties as assigned by management. Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. Experience with automation and control systems (PLC, SCADA). Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Familiarity with industry safety standards and compliance regulations. Demonstrated effective communication skills. Balanced technical, human relations, and conceptual skills to achieve results in a team environment. Ability to evaluate alternatives, set priorities, and make decisions impacting all phases of plant operation. Education
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience in food processing equipment maintenance. Experience
Minimum 5 years in a maintenance role within manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management position. Dairy or food production experience. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, control, coordinate, and direct a Maintenance Department. HAZMAT 24-hour certification required. Maintenance Manager
