Summary:
This position collaborates with key domestic and international vendors, merchandising teams, and cross‑functional partners to drive share growth by sourcing materials or finished goods that meet or exceed quality standards. The role may also involve sourcing for national brands and fresh (unbranded) products as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide domestic and global product sourcing expertise, including strategy development, vendor identification and evaluation, negotiation, and ongoing supplier management.
Lead complex supplier negotiations across multi‑platform categories and distribution channels.
Partner with internal stakeholders such as merchandise buyers, brand leads, and cross‑functional teams (e.g., quality assurance, regulatory, packaging).
Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sourcing, Procurement, Product Development, Merchandising, Manufacturing).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in domestic and global product sourcing.
Proven experience in sourcing for a retailer, wholesaler, or manufacturer, with a track record of increasing responsibility.
Demonstrated success in sourcing raw materials, finished goods, hard commodities (traded inputs), soft commodities (buyer/seller markets), and value‑added products.
Strong understanding of cost inputs and global supply/demand trends, with the ability to implement category‑level risk mitigation strategies.
Awareness of current industry trends.
Ability to develop effective sourcing strategies for both raw materials and finished products.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive problem‑solving and strategic thinking abilities.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
While not directly responsible for P&L, demonstrate financial success in sourcing and its impact on profitability.
