On Call Boiler Attendant (2nd shift)

Job Description Summary: Responsible to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems for the assigned property(s). Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) maintaining a clean and safe working environment, performing rounds, conducting routine assessments, performance of day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance, painting, and housekeeping for assigned properties.

Responsibilities

Operates and adjusts high pressure gas, oil, and coal fired boilers in the steam generating plant.

Maintains maximum boiler efficiency by adjusting, reading, and interpreting gauges, indicators, and steam flow meters.

Maintains oil heaters, pumps, oil storage facilities, and oil unloading equipment.

Operates steam plant as situation warrants on natural gas, oil, or coal.

Observes boiler plant operations through use of electronic or pneumatic controls, pressure gauges, and safety devices.

Supervises or performs the chemical testing and treatment of boiler feed water.

Maintains various records and reports relative to steam plant operations.

Exercises supervision over employees allocated to the class of Boiler Operator.

Makes regular checks of plant equipment and makes adjustments, repairs, and services equipment as required.

Performs related work as required.

Education and Experience Graduation from a standard high school and considerable experience in the maintenance and operation of steam boilers; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of the proper operation and maintenance of high pressure steam generation plant equipment.

Thorough knowledge of steam plant safety standards and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams, written orders, control gauges, manufacturer's operating instructions books, and to record boiler plant information.

Ability to operate and regulate boiler plant equipment and to make adjustments as required for plant output.

Ability to understand and follow complex oral or written instructions on proper plant operation.

Ability to supervise the work of others.

Skill in repairing and maintaining various types of steam plant equipment.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role. The compensation for the position is: $19.98 - $23.50.
