Transportation Project Engineer
Actalent is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to execute and lead complex projects, including municipal roadways, roundabouts, trails, highways, safety studies, and green street designs. The role will serve as a liaison between production staff and Project Managers, engaging with clients across Ohio. Candidates should have multiple years of transportation engineering/design experience and proficiency in OpenRoads, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation.
Responsibilities
Conduct detailed research, analyze data, and prepare plans to support innovative design solutions.
Perform field reviews to identify opportunities and constraints.
Collaborate with upper staff to create CAD‑generated designs and compelling visual exhibits.
Provide cost estimates, documentation, and quality checks for project accuracy.
Contribute to projects that enhance communities while ensuring safety and sustainability.
Adhere to all quality and safety standards.
Make recommendations and demonstrate analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Build professional connections through client meetings and networking.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of transportation engineering/design experience in roadways, roundabouts, highways, trails, and interchanges.
Proficiency in OpenRoads and/or Civil 3D.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
EIT or PE License is an advantage.
Prior experience managing transportation engineering projects is beneficial.
Work Environment This position offers a hybrid schedule (2‑3 days from home) and can be based near any Ohio office (Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, Mason, Newark). Occasional site visits may be required. Highly qualified candidates may work 100% remotely.
Job Type & Location Permanent position, Columbus, Ohio.
Pay & Benefits Salary range: $75,000 – $120,000 per year. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401k match; wellness programs; profit sharing; bonus incentives; licensure reimbursement.
