Component Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description The Component Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that SEAKR’s supply chain consistently delivers high‑quality, reliable components for aerospace applications. The SQE will perform supplier quality audits, source inspections, audit supplier quality management systems, and track supplier performance. The SQE plays a critical role in SEAKR’s Product Assurance department, ensuring that flowed‑down electrical component requirements are properly executed and can resolve potential supplier quality issues. The SQE reports to the Manager of the Supplier Quality Engineering Group.
In This Position You Will
Support procurement, program management, manufacturing, and engineering with all supplier quality related activities for discreet EEE components.
Act as a Receiving Inspection liaison, assisting with material discrepancies and visual findings (minimum 2‑3 days per week hybrid schedule).
Attend commodity Control Boards to support discussions on new suppliers, track receipts and dispositions, and propose required testing.
Maintain relationships with internal SEAKR teams (Engineering, Program Management, Radiation, CE, Procurement, Receiving Inspection) to oversee challenges.
Perform local quality system evaluations of new and ongoing suppliers.
Conduct onsite supplier surveillance during fabrication of flight articles to assure compliance with requirements.
Draft and maintain electronic records of supplier surveillance and evaluation reports.
Create and maintain supplier approval ratings and records, including survey records and QMS certifications in SEAKR’s ERP system.
Review and approve purchase orders of flight hardware.
Identify and mitigate supplier‑born risks.
Analyze supplier defect trends and lead continuous improvement projects.
Support Receiving Inspection with non‑conformance evaluations and Material Review Board dispositions.
Communicate non‑conformances to suppliers and track corrective/preventive actions.
Work with Procurement, SQE, and Component Engineers to vet and onboard new suppliers.
Support SEAKR’s Continuous Improvement ideology and contribute to defining new processes or enhancing existing ones to meet AS9100 quality standards.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualities
Familiar with discreet component assembly manufacturing and cleanroom/lab environments and requirements.
Familiar with EEE parts testing (screening, qualification, DPA, re‑life, etc.), failure analysis, and non‑conformance resolution.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of product assurance and quality systems experience with ISO9001/AS9100 exposure.
Able to travel up to 75% of the time (typical 25%).
Strong communication skills for interfacing with external suppliers on quality issues.
Technical aptitude with strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, drawings, dimensions, and inspection reports.
Successful team player, collaborating with engineering, program management, supply chain, and manufacturing.
Effective time management and task prioritization.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Desired Skills, Experience & Qualities
General knowledge of Military Performance Specifications (e.g., MIL‑STD‑883, MIL‑STD‑1580, MIL‑PRF‑123, MIL‑PRF‑19500, MIL‑PRF‑38534, MIL‑PRF‑55342, MIL‑PRF‑55365, EEE‑INST‑002, PEM‑INST‑001).
Background in root cause analysis (5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone, Pareto, FMEA). Ability to identify solutions to complex problems.
Experience improving supplier performance through metrics.
Proficiency with ERP systems.
Knowledge of quality systems and supply chain quality functions and documentation.
