Base Pay Range $80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Summary of Position The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for completing start‑up activities on project sites and documenting work and testing completed. The role includes installing and troubleshooting instrumentation and other control systems provided by Soffa/Trimax, and applying knowledge of PLC control and automated control processes.

Objectives of This Role Commission and start‑up activities as well as maintenance of customer sites, while providing excellent service and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Position Responsibilities

Start‑up commissioning pump/motor controls

Loop check wires from field to monitoring devices

Inspect, commission, and calibrate instrumentation (pressure, level, flow)

Inspect, commission, and calibrate analytical sensors (pH, chlorine, turbidity)

Troubleshoot electrical/control logic

Troubleshoot instrumentation (pressure, level, flow)

Wire modifications to panels per drawings

Site installations of electrical devices/motor controls

Configure parameters and troubleshoot VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)

Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems using electrical ladder schematics

Calibrate, trace, and correct control loop malfunctions; participate in maintenance and production concerning instrument systems

Navigate PLC programs to troubleshoot process upsets

Navigate HMI programs to troubleshoot process upsets

Verify accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments such as pressure, flow, temperature, pH, turbidity, and conductivity, and document failure rates on specified equipment

Repair, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment such as industrial controls, instrumentation, transmitters, HMI, VFD, and PLCs

Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical, and electronic components

Perform other duties as required

Education, Certification, Skills, and/or Abilities Required

Minimum Experience: 4+ years of experience in electrical and controls field work

Degree Required: College or technical degree preferred, high school with relevant experience acceptable

Certification Required: OSHA 10 and ISA certification (a plus)

Valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record

Experience Required – Business

Excellent attention to detail

High level of organizational and time‑management skills

Experience writing routine reports and correspondence

Experience speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Experience Required – Technical

Use of Digital Multimeters

Basic use of power tools (drills, metal cutting, punches)

Experience completing the required paperwork associated with instrumentation calibration duties

Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Understanding and practice of AC/DC voltage measurement

Understanding and practice of DC current (4‑20 mA) measurement

Experience Required – Interpersonal

Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Critical thinking skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

The ability to thrive in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

Confined space work – ability to enter confined spaces

Elevated work (ladder/lift) – ability to climb ladders and stairs up to 20 ft high, using proper safety equipment

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and reach

Required to use various hand tools and calibration instruments Regularly required to walk for long periods of time

Noise level typically low to medium in office; can be loud at job site

Ability to travel – regularly required to drive to job sites

Available for 24‑hour on‑call shifts

Intermittent hotel stays during week
