Job Title Distribution Engineer

As a Distribution Engineer, you will provide detailed engineering, design, and planning assessments and recommendations. You will evaluate system operations and develop project scope for overhead and underground utility systems. Your role will include evaluating electrical power systems and designing replacements according to utility standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and modify accurate estimates and engineering drawings using BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and/or GIS software.

Meet with managers, engineers, and colleagues to review project statuses and determine appropriate communication strategies.

Visit site plans to assess existing utility conditions and gather necessary project information.

Coordinate ROW acquisition, planning, and design functions through regular project updates to ensure schedule adherence and work forecasting.

Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime.

Perform additional duties as needed or assigned.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.

1‑2 years of experience in a related field.

Experience in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering preferred.

Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS/JETS scheduling tool, DETS, CYME, and DISTGIS/ArcMap.

Experience with OH and UG fiber optic and other telecommunication distribution means.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and utility design software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to write business correspondence and communicate effectively.

Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and local permitting agencies.

Strong operational planning and interpersonal skills.

General computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.

Work Environment & Location This is a fully remote position based at the Kansas City, Missouri location (Contract to Hire).

Pay and Benefits Salary range: $28.84 – $28.84 per hour.

Benefits are subject to change and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
