Job Title: Entry Level Substation Engineer
As an Entry Level Substation Electrical Engineer, you will work under the direction of Project Managers and Project Engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations with varying voltage levels. Candidates without their EIT certification will be initially placed into a Design Coordinator position, with the expectation of obtaining their EIT for career progression.
Responsibilities
Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium, and High Voltage).
Create design sketches and redline drawings.
Collaborate with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in line with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications.
Develop design deliverables such as one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
Perform site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects.
Essential Skills
Electrical Engineering Degree or Substation Engineering Experience
Proficiency in electrical engineering design and AutoCAD
EIT certification or a plan to take the FE exam
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with substations
Experience in the electric utility sector
Work Environment The role is based in Nashville, TN, where there is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the Nashville office. You will be part of a dynamic power and utilities engineering team, working with multiple utilities across different business lines. The position includes benefits including PTO and paid holidays.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $40.00/hr.
