Job Title 25‑26 High School Science Teacher
Location Newark, NJ
Responsibilities
Create, internalize, modify and prepare lesson plans in accordance with the academic curriculum, working closely with the grade level team.
Use data to responsively teach to mastery of academic skills.
Work closely with students, families and colleagues to create a supportive environment for student progress.
Reinforce a firm foundation for all classes and uphold classroom management techniques.
Assist with diagnostic and progress monitoring testing across the school.
Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure all students meet the learning objectives.
Update student performance trackers and use data to guide lesson plans.
Participate in school, departmental and parent meetings.
Participate in school events, activities and programs during and outside of regular class instruction hours.
Qualifications

A track record of success in the classroom.
Subject matter expertise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
Demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
A collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning.

A belief that all students deserve a world‑class education achievable through education reform.
Certification Requirements
Hold a valid teaching certification in New Jersey.
Meet the GPA requirement (see details below).
GPA Requirement
If graduated after September 2016:
Bachelor's or master's GPA on a conferred degree that is ≥ 3.0, or
Bachelor's or master's GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 and have passed all required Praxis exams with a +10% super score.
If graduated before September 2016:
Bachelor's or master's GPA on a conferred degree that is ≥ 2.75.
Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $65,000 – $103,000 + up to $7,000 annually in performance‑based pay. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, New Jersey Teachers Pension and Annuity Fund participation, optional KIPP NJ 403b retirement plan with matching contributions, school‑issued laptop, transportation benefits for TEAMmates, generous time‑off including 3.5–4 vacation weeks, sick and personal days, extended summer break, up to 12 weeks 100% parental leave, employer‑paid life insurance, and optional short‑term and long‑term disability and accident/hospital indemnity.
