Systems Engineer/Architect

The Opportunity The selected candidate will support our customer, the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS), in support of the Program Management Office. This role is critical in ensuring the effective management and integration of systems and architectures to meet the intelligence requirements of the AF DCGS.

Responsibilities

Work on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to develop and maintain system architectures.

Create and update architectural models and documentation to support system design and integration efforts.

Utilize system engineering principles to perform requirement decomposition.

Translate high-level intelligence requirements into detailed system requirements.

Derive requirements for the underlying platform and performance metrics.

Ensure that system designs meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including program managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to align system designs with project goals.

Facilitate communication between technical and non‑technical team members to ensure clear understanding and implementation of requirements.

Qualifications Required:

A current Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university.

5+ years of professional experience.

Alternatively, 15 years of relevant professional experience without a degree.

Willingness to learn, teach, and share information in both co‑located and remote team environments.

Knowledge of system engineering and IT‑based architectural fundamentals.

Strong active listening skills and attention to detail.

Must be self‑motivated with good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Experience working within the Intelligence Community.

Desired:

Experience with the AF DCGS Weapon System.

Exposure to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBOK).

Experience in subsystem integration into a large system.

Exposure to networking principles and/or experience working with classified networks.

Understanding of DOD acquisition practices.

Additional Notes

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to problem‑solving and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work within deadlines.

Experience with agile methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus.

Pay Range The proposed salary range for this position is: $93,500 - $196,500.
