Software Engineer – Actalent
Join our dynamic team as a Software Engineer supporting Internal Research and Development (IRAD) initiatives in Huntsville, AL. Work collaboratively in a diverse environment to understand system requirements and develop new capabilities and algorithms essential to system performance. This role requires intensive mathematics and physics‑based problem‑solving. In addition to software development, you will participate in reviewing requirements and test cases for software capabilities.
Responsibilities

Implement complex algorithms and capabilities that are critical to system performance.
Participate in the review and development of software requirements and test cases.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in C/C++, Java, Unix, Linux, MATLAB, and Python.
Active secret clearance.
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or 3+ years of relevant experience.
Recent and extensive software development experience in C++ or Java.
Experience with Unix/Linux OS, scripting, automated software testing, and analysis.
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Jenkins.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science is preferred.
High proficiency with Linux, scripting, and operations.
Experience in automated software requirements testing and analysis.
Familiarity with battle management or fire control systems.
Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) tools like Cucumber.
Proficiency in Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools like Coverity, Fortify, and SonarQube.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in conjunction with CI/CD, containers, and pipelines.
Solid experience in mathematics and physics.
Work Environment Work onsite at a cleared facility, either at the Bradford Drive location or Redstone Gateway Location. The role supports a cleared IRAD project for a major defense company in the United States, offering a professional and secure work environment.
Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Huntsville, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr.
