This Position reports to:
R&D Team Lead
Your role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems, showcasing your expertise while working both independently and as part of an R&D team.
Your responsibilities:
Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for embedded controllers used in electrical drive systems.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and system‑level testing.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, communication and performance standards.
Participate in refinement meetings to understand VFD functions and system testing requirements, and perform customer‑focused test automation development for drive functions.
Conduct test requirement analysis, manual testing, and test automation code development in C#/Python in line with feature and quality management systems.
Maintain test defect logs captured during testing and testing automation development of the assigned product.
Support the product owner in coordinating technical inputs for the project and resolving technical issues with global architecture and development teams.
Verify that embedded products comply with cybersecurity standards.
Your background:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field with 3 to 6 years of experience in testing and test automation of embedded systems.
Good knowledge of embedded devices with at least 3 years of experience in embedded device testing.
Deep understanding of microcontrollers, processors, and peripheral interfaces.
Experience with JTAG, logic analyzers, software debuggers, and communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and fieldbus communication protocols.
Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and requirements for embedded devices (e.g., IEC 62443).
Proficiency in test automation using C#, Python, or Robo Framework.
Understanding of configuration management, code repository, requirements management, CI/CD, and various testing phases including release testing.
Experience working with industrial drives/VFDs is an advantage.
