Job Description We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to lead and certify quality systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, manage audits and supplier quality, and ensure reliable production for advanced avionics products.
Responsibilities
Develop, write, and review quality procedures and work instructions to support aerospace production.
Lead and perform internal audits, manage inspection processes for incoming parts, and oversee supplier qualification.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to identify critical quality measurements and ensure thorough documentation and root cause analysis for failures.
Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to achieve and sustain AS9100D certification or similar standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and report on key quality metrics to leadership.
Represent the company in customer and regulatory audits.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering or management within aerospace, defense, medical device, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
Hands‑on experience with AS9100 or similar quality standards.
Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills.
Experience with inspection tools, audits, and root cause analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with FAA Production Approval.
Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt).
Supplier quality management and statistical sampling expertise.
Professional certification in Quality Management.
Proficiency with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.
Ability to train and mentor quality staff.
Work Environment The position is based onsite full‑time in White Salmon, WA, across the river from Hood River, OR. It follows a 9/80 schedule, allowing every other Friday off. This position is part of the leadership team and reports directly to the CEO. Flexible hours and partial remote work options are available while contributing to the upgrade of a quality system to AS9100 certification and improving processes to meet evolving business needs.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of White Salmon, Washington.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.00 – $67.00/hr.
