Job Description Dewberry is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing Water Engineering practice within our New York, NY office. Typical projects involve hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; data analysis, design of water, sewer and stormwater facilities; flood resiliency; ecosystem restoration; green infrastructure; floodplain and drainage studies.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering calculations and produce engineering drawings as needed on a variety of water resources related projects.

Conduct business development and project delivery for stormwater and resilience projects.

Perform field work whenever required.

Perform hydraulic & hydrologic modeling as needed.

Assist in writing reports, presentations, marketing, business development and other related items.

Develop design of various stormwater management, ecosystem restoration and flood risk reduction components such as detention systems, channels, tide gates, and others using local, state and federal standards.

Act as a mentor to junior engineers, technical lead, engineer of record, task manager or project manager on a variety of water resources projects.

Required Skills & Experience

B.S. Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related Engineering field), with emphasis in stormwater conveyance, stream restoration, green infrastructure or water resources.

5 – 8 years related experience.

Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS and computer models such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, Infoworks, MIKE.

Knowledge of USACE, NYSDEC, FEMA, AWWA standards and procedures for design.

Prior experience with Infoworks and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is preferred.

Professional Engineer or ability to obtain Professional Engineering license within 6 months to a year.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software.

Clean driving record and valid driving license required.

Salary Range The projected range for this position is $100,188 – $128,813 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NY only.
