Job Description The Commercial Roofing estimator will be responsible for working with the sales team to gather information regarding potential contracts and utilize previous experience and knowledge to calculate a cost to complete the project.

The ideal candidate will be able to quickly familiarize themselves with the scope of work and contract details in order to successfully be awarded the contract.

Strong communication skills are a must as this position will need to communicate with the sales team, the project team, and the client on a regular basis.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Work hand-in-hand with in-house sales and operations departments to provide customers with detailed and accurate roof measurements, estimates, and proposals.

Maintain a complete understanding of all contract information prepared and presented by the company.

Prepare proposals, including a comprehensive outline of work to be performed along with bidding information, forms, drawings, and digital photos.

Handle in-progress work order changes, approvals, submittals, and project close-out to ensure customer satisfaction.

Willingness and ability to learn and utilize new software when needed.

Act as a liaison to the sales and operations department to ensure a proper handoff from sales to operations for the best customer experience possible.

Provide roofing information—price, quality, point of sales material.

Adapt to changing requests in a timely and professional manner.

Maintain strong relationship management skills that win new work and repeat work from existing customers and clients.

Job Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years successful estimating experience.

Strong proficiency in taking roof measurements, reading architectural drawings, interpreting schedules, and bidding data, and entering information into estimating programs.

Time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Capable of working independently or within a team.

Ability to understand company safety policies and how they affect the estimation and bid processes.

Possess robust computer and technical skills and the ability to learn and administer functions in company software systems.

Strong and effective communication and presentation skills (written and oral).

Physical demands include climbing ladders, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, and kneeling as needed to complete essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

Roofing or construction industry experience a plus.

Previous experience with Sage/Timber Line is a plus.
