Varsity Wrestling Assistant Coach (Boys and Girls)
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the head coach, the Assistant Coach provides leadership and oversees all coaching duties delegated to him/her for an interscholastic athletic program operating under NJSIAA bylaws and regulations. The Coach assists in directing and coordinating training, preparing for competition, managing fiscal responsibilities, and supporting program activities.
Qualifications
Teacher certification
Coaching experience
Knowledge of NJSIAA bylaws and regulations
Essential Duties
Assist in promoting the general welfare of the team and help student athletes achieve both team and personal goals.
Assist in promoting the philosophies and values of the head coach.
Assist in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition to properly prepare for week‑to‑week opponents.
Assist in directing all aspects of the football team (defense, offense, and various individual positions).
Assist in coordinating strategic aspects of the program.
Represent the program at various school and community events, including fundraising, student activities, and public relations.
Assist in managing daily operations of the program.
Prepare daily practice regimens to be incorporated into the team schedule.
Assist in evaluating athletic and academic performance programs.
Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities
Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sport.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of NJSIAA guidelines and regulations.
Ability to lead and guide high school athletes.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Evaluation of Performance Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education policy.
Additional Responsibilities Performs such other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as the principal or superintendent may assign or delegate.
Computer Skills Proficient in computer applications pertinent to supporting the position.
