EHS Specialist
As the EHS Specialist, you will provide direct environmental, health, and safety support for the Cleveland, OH Automotive OEM site.
You will report to the site EHS Manager and help drive best practices to sustain our EHS mission and vision.
This position will have direct safety and health responsibilities and ownership of various environmental processes.
Key Responsibilities
Actively interact with employees and leadership to promote the PPG EHS culture.
Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the facility.
Conduct routine reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and PPG EHS requirements.
Manage various EHS programs, including performing site inspections for spill prevention, slips/trips/falls assessments, machine guarding, LOTO, Confined Space, and reviewing conformance to regulatory permits.
Manage aspects of the EHS training program, including developing training materials, delivering instructor‑led training, training record management and new employee safety training.
Provide structure and leadership to ensure the facility Industrial Hygiene plan is maintained and completed.
Participate on the site’s Emergency Response Team, including first aid and spill response.
Participate in incident investigations to determine the root cause and implement sustainable corrective actions, sharing lessons learned across the site.
Facilitate internal audits and self‑assessments. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations.
Actively identify and promote improvements that strengthen the site’s EHS programs.
Assist in developing a sustainable JSA process.
Analyze trends and develop programs based on PPG Standards and best practices to address injury causes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
Internship level to 3 years of experience in the EHS field, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical setting.
Experience collaborating with all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of safety regulations and consensus standards (OHSA, RCRA, TDG, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA) and inspection procedures; knowledge of RCRA waste regulations.
Must possess a hands‑on attitude.
Base salary range: $67,500 – $75,000 annually.
