The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Special Education Teacher Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) with East County SELPA of the Student Services and Programs Division. This position will plan and implement quality learning experiences, prepare daily plans to provide itinerant services for students. Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction based on the student’s Individual Education Program (IEP). Teachers implement the IEP and integrate IEP goals into their lessons; evaluate and report progress on IEP goals, and conduct evaluations to determine eligibility. This position will work with a variety of students, from toddlers through young adults, who are deaf or hard of hearing and who may or may not have other disabilities. Although some students may access language through American Sign Language, the majority of the students served in this program access spoken language and have personal amplification devices. This position is full‑time and will offer the certificated benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the CalSTRS state retirement system. Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction based on the student’s IEP, integrate IEP goals into lessons, evaluate and report progress, conduct eligibility evaluations, and plan and implement itinerant services for students with a variety of learning differences. Qualifications
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in deaf education or graduate studies in deaf education or a related field, and experience serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing with a variety of learning differences. Certificates, Licenses, Credentials
Valid Education Specialist teaching credential with an authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH); or an equivalent document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Valid English Learner authorization (CLAD or equivalent document). Applicants eligible for an internship credential as issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing are also welcome to apply. Diversity Statement
