APU Assembly Technician APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) is a turbine engine utilized on the aircraft to provide electrical and pneumatic power during periods when the main engines are not running. The following is a list of job duties that an APU Assembly Technician will perform:
Responsibilities
Responsible for the assembly, testing, and travelers related to LRUs, components, parts and tools
Secondary responsibilities consist of disassembly, cleaning, analytical inspection, rework schemes, painting, packaging, and other duties as assigned
Read and interprets maintenance manuals, or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned task
Replaces or repairs damaged or worn engine parts and component parts using general hand tools, special tools, pneumatic tools and precision measuring equipment. Assembles components with same tools and equipment
Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control
Accurately complete work orders, BOMs, data inputs within ERP system
Reads and understands Commercial, FAA, EASA, Repair Station, and ISO documentations and other related materials
Operates, maintains and services specialized equipment
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED minimum
Experience in Honeywell 331 series APU's preferred
Technical school courses in auto or diesel mechanics or machinist classes preferred
Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience required and must have a strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge
Experience in turbine engine overhaul or engine component overhaul required
FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant license or equivalent certification preferred but not required
Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks
Ability to locate, read and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task
Must be able to read, write and understand English fluently
Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
