J33 is a unique multidisciplinary unit divided into three sections. It is a fast‑paced area with high patient turnover, allowing nursing staff to care for a variety of patient populations treated with cutting‑edge procedures.

Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit

is a 15‑bed outpatient unit specializing in recovery of patients undergoing cardiac or vascular procedures requiring less than a 23‑hour stay. Patients can be monitored by bedside or remote cardiac telemetry. The unit receives its patient population from the Cardiac Cath Lab and the Electrophysiology Lab.

Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

is a six‑bed unit specializing in recovery of patients after thoracic and vascular surgery. PACU patients do not require an overnight stay in ICU.

Cardiac Accelerated Recovery Unit (CARU)

is a seven‑bed unit caring for patients undergoing cardiac surgery who are candidates for accelerated recovery. These patients typically transfer to a step‑down unit within 23 hours and follow aggressive protocols for accelerated recovery.

A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, from 7:00 am–7:30 pm and 7:00 pm–7:30 am.

What You’ll Do

Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.

Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.

Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity, patient preference, resources).

Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate actions to mitigate risk.

Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.

Document care in patients’ medical records.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

New‑grad or less than one year RN work experience, or RN experience moving from non‑inpatient to acute direct‑care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.

For Critical Care: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification presented on hire or within first year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.

Standing and walking for extended periods.

Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium work: Exerting 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly.

Physical demands exceed those of light work.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $33.50

Maximum hourly: $53.60

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set and education. It does not include applicable pay practices or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
