Role Overview A renewable energy investment firm is seeking a Director to join its investment team, supporting the analysis of distributed generation and community solar projects across the U.S. The Director will lead financial modeling and due diligence for new investments. This role works closely with development, policy, and finance teams to deliver clear insights that drive investment decisions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee detailed financial modeling and valuation for C&I, community solar, and energy storage investments, including scenario testing and market sensitivity reviews
Analyze the economics of different financing and ownership structures and partner with Structured Finance on deal implementation
Develop, enhance, and align financial models and project summaries used for leadership reviews and investment decisions
Work closely with teams across Business Development, Policy, and Finance to validate inputs and ensure assumptions align with market realities
Create and deliver investment materials and recommendations for executive leadership and board review
Manage due diligence from initial screening through financing and construction, coordinating reconciliations before and after closing
Guide and support junior team members, promoting accuracy, collaboration, and professional growth
Drive process optimization efforts, including automation and model standardization initiatives
Qualifications
Extensive experience in renewable energy finance, investment evaluation, or structured transactions, ideally focused on distributed generation or community solar
Expert‑level proficiency in Excel with the capability to design, modify, and analyze complex project and portfolio financial models
Deep knowledge of tax equity and debt structures, including partnership flips, sale‑leasebacks, transferability, private placements, and securitizations
Solid grasp of community solar programs, market regulations, and state‑level policy frameworks
Exceptional presentation and communication abilities, with experience engaging senior executives and investment committees
Demonstrated people leadership skills and a history of mentoring and developing junior professionals
