Physician Assistant (SOM Pediatric Cardiology) - 119269 Requisition ID: 119269. The School of Medicine Pediatric Cardiology Unit at Johns Hopkins University seeks a Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care for children with congenital and acquired heart disease in the Blalock Taussig Thomas Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center. The PA will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health‑care team, independently managing patients while supporting fellows, attending physicians, and allied‑health staff.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive and episodic health assessments, including history taking, physical exams, and differential diagnosis.

Order, interpret, and act upon lab studies, radiographic imaging, and other diagnostic tests; perform procedures within scope of practice.

Develop and implement individualized plans of care: prescribe medications, schedule follow‑ups, arrange referrals, and ensure medication compliance.

Use effective time‑management to meet departmental productivity goals and identify issues that impede patient care, initiating appropriate interventions.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, supervise PA activities, identify operational gaps, communicate clearly, provide constructive feedback, and uphold confidentiality policies.

Support orientation and education of new PAs and interdisciplinary staff; contribute to quality and safety initiatives and promote institutional core values.

Technical Qualifications / Specialized Certifications

Current CPR and PALS certification; completion of Johns Hopkins Hospital credentialing process required prior to start.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and certification by the NCCPA or similar national certifying body; completion of a CAAHEP‑certified Physician Assistant program.

Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Maryland or another admissible state.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high‑school diploma, where permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 3 years of PA experience in cardiac surgery, cardiac critical care, or pediatric cardiology.

Employment Details Salary: $100,000 – $152,900 annually (targeted $120,000). Full‑time, variable 12‑hour shifts, 7 days a week, 37.5 hours per week. Exempt FLSA status. Location: School of Medicine Campus, Baltimore, MD. Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MG.
