About LIU CoS The College of Science (CoS) at Long Island University is an interdisciplinary hub of innovation, uniting Computer Science, Engineering, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, and Artificial Intelligence. Our mission is to provide transformative, student‑centered education, foster experiential learning, and prepare graduates to lead in emerging fields of STEM and AI. Our upcoming state‑of‑the‑art science building will house Dassault Systèmes 3D platforms, high‑performance computational facilities, digital learning labs, and fabrication laboratories, offering an immersive, integrative, and technologically advanced environment for learning and teaching.

Position Overview LIU CoS seeks a visionary Assistant Dean of Academic Programs to lead and enhance the college’s academic offerings. This leadership role will oversee curriculum development, program innovation, faculty engagement, and student success initiatives, ensuring that CoS programs meet the highest standards of academic excellence and prepare graduates for impactful careers in science, engineering, computing, and AI. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean, faculty, and staff to strategically advance the college’s academic mission, foster interdisciplinary education, and integrate innovative teaching technologies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for academic programs, curriculum development, and program assessment.

Oversee program innovation, including new undergraduate and graduate offerings, interdisciplinary tracks, and digital learning initiatives.

Collaborate with faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness, mentorship, and student engagement.

Support accreditation, academic quality assurance, and continuous program improvement.

Foster integration of advanced educational technologies, including 3D platforms, computational labs, and digital fabrication tools, into teaching and learning.

Work with industry and research partners to align curricula with emerging workforce needs.

Promote student success initiatives, including advising, experiential learning opportunities, and interdisciplinary projects.

Qualifications Required:

Ph.D. or terminal degree in Science, Engineering, Computing, AI, or related fields.

Demonstrated experience in academic program leadership, curriculum development, and faculty support.

Knowledge of interdisciplinary STEM education and emerging technologies in teaching.

Strong organizational, communication, and strategic planning skills.

Commitment to student success, diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

Preferred:

Experience in digital learning platforms, computational labs, or 3D/fabrication‑based education.

Experience with accreditation processes and academic program assessment.

Experience fostering industry‑academic partnerships and experiential learning programs.
