Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (RF Data Analyst) Northrop Grumman – Space Systems – Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Program

Overview Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer/RF Data Analyst to support the customer’s Early Use (EU) project objectives for the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Program.

The role focuses on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex RF data to evaluate and improve the performance of the DARC radar system during early use operations.

Job Duties

Support early use operations on the DARC radar system.

Manage the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of large datasets from various RF testing and measurement sources.

Conduct in-depth analysis of RF data to evaluate performance.

Develop and implement advanced signal processing techniques and mathematical models to analyze RF signals and improve system performance.

Create simulations to predict system behavior and assess the impact of changes in hardware or environmental conditions.

Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.

Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and other analysts to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and validate system enhancements.

Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the integration and testing process.

Provide early use training on the DARC radar system.

Assist the team in the development of innovative test automation solutions.

Report directly to the system integration and test lead.

Basic Qualifications

Level 3: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or similar with 5 years of experience. 8 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

Level 4: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or similar with 8 years of experience. 10 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required at time of application.

3–5+ years of experience in RF signal analysis and/or specialized RF communications.

Demonstrated experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data‑driven methodologies.

Knowledge of radar signal processing, matched filtering, Range‑Doppler mapping, Fourier analyses, and phase analyses.

Strong coding skills in Python, R, or MATLAB.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with missile defense, space tracking, and/or satellite operations.

Experience working as part of an integration and test team across multiple engineering disciplines.

Experience integrating large, complex systems comprised of diverse hardware and software elements.

Experience with machine learning or AI techniques for RF channel modeling.

Knowledge of specific protocols and systems such as radar or geolocation systems.

Background in high‑consequence electronics, such as space or defense applications.

Experience with large ground data processing systems integration.

Experience with radar processing algorithms or software integration.

Salary & Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 – $150,500.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 – $187,300.00 Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives.
