The Commercial Product and Infrastructure (CPI) Finance organization is responsible for driving Microsoft Cloud & AI capacity, margin excellence, and resource allocation rigor across Microsoft’s portfolio. Within CPI, the Resource Investment Strategy finance team partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across ~100K engineering FTEs are continuously aligned to strategic priorities.
The Finance Manager, Engineering Resource Analytics will work closely with Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) to support Capacity engineering leaders. The role partners with engineering, global talent acquisition, and finance to plan FTE head‑count and vendor resources, and implements a strategic workforce talent roadmap to support long‑term capacity growth. You will leverage problem‑solving ability at multiple altitudes, navigate complexity, and operate in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities
Business and Finance Partnership: Provide leadership to the business and other finance teams with respect to financial management, resource prioritization, and allocation. Ensure investments are aligned to key priorities. Drive analytical and conceptual thinking with stakeholders that extends beyond the numbers into strategy. Influence a compliant culture through actions and education with stakeholders.
Decision Support: Apply strategic thinking into FTE head‑count resource planning to maximize engineering investments through industry intelligence and benchmarking. Provide deeper insight to enable leadership’s decision on where and how resources should be deployed. Give visibility to the current resource landscape and drive re‑deployment discussions. Communicate trade‑off scenarios and provide financial analysis for recommendations.
Business Health and Planning: Lead finance rhythms with business partners (close, forecast, budget). Partner with stakeholders to craft the capacity investment story through business understanding and collaboration. Take a macro‑level approach to analyze results, highlighting trends and key levers. Support CFO and Engineering CVP reviews.
Resource Allocation and Management: Partner with procurement and business on vendor spend to align to strategic functional areas. Model and analyze key drivers, identify levers, and drive planning decisions.

Required/Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field.
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field.
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years of financial or data modeling experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 3+ years of post‑graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience.
OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 5+ years of post‑graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience.
OR equivalent experience.
Compensation Financial Analysis IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 – $151,900 per year. In the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $100,800 – $168,000 per year.
