Job Description The Medical Affairs (MA) organization provides patients, healthcare providers and payers everywhere with the practical and clinically relevant information and solutions they need to use AbbVie products safely and effectively, throughout the product lifecycle and the patient’s journey.

This role provides medical and scientific input into core strategic and operational medical affairs activities for our Migraine portfolio such as: health‑care professional/provider interactions, generation of clinical and scientific data (enhancing therapeutic benefit and value), educational initiatives, safeguarding patient safety.

This position is preferably based at our Florham Park, NJ, or Mettawa, IL offices and will follow a hybrid schedule of 3x/week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

Provide input into the development of the medical strategy for Migraine assets.

Provide specialist medical insights and execute on data generation, communication, and expert engagement activities.

Lead or contribute to comprehensive gap assessment, advisory boards, electronic engagement, and scientific/medical education programs.

Help design and execute Phase IV trials including target population and endpoint selection.

Lead medical monitoring activities for MA studies for Migraine assets.

Support medical affairs activities including dissemination of data supporting overall product scientific and business strategy.

Provide scientific support for Migraine assets and deliver scientific presentations.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with key opinion leaders; actively participate in medical affairs activities aligned with strategy.

Stay abreast of professional information through conferences and/or medical literature and act as a Migraine subject matter expert.

Qualifications

Position will be commensurate with experience: Associate Scientific Director minimally requires a bachelor’s of science (or equivalent) with 3–5+ years of relevant clinical or medical affairs experience; Scientific Director requires 5–7+ years.

Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DO) preferred.

2+ years experience in migraine preferred.

Must be able to work onsite 3 days/week at Florham Park, NJ or Mettawa, IL.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of clinical trial methodology and experience in strategy and protocol design.

Work with some supervision and guidance; exercise judgment within well-defined practices and policies.
