We are currently searching for an experienced
GIS Technician
to support our
Midwest
Region
located in
Dayton, OH.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
Under supervision, coordinates and participates in the deliverable of geographic information system (GIS) projects; perform GIS modeling duties, and perform other duties as assigned.
Position will assist, as necessary, on GIS projects. Project work may involve data conversion/migration, map production, preparing GIS data, analysis support, and creation of geographic maps, GIS database support, and associated work.
What you’ll be doing:
Update and clean up existing datasets/databases
Assist with creating and documenting GIS standards company-wide
Create and maintain geodatabases, editing tabular and geometric data
Create high quality maps, web maps, and other GIS-related products using ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro
Maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed
Develop custom workflows and scripts to increase productivity and accuracy
Assist GIS staff as required
Provide additional GIS and technical support as needed
What you need to have:
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with ArcGIS Suite (Desktop, SDE, ArcGIS.com)
Proficient with computer hardware and software including Microsoft Office, email, and internet browser programs
Ability to assist in the field if needed
Effective oral and written communication skills
Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
Valid driver’s license
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
