Senior Microsoft Exchange Administrator We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Microsoft Exchange Administrator to lead the administration, configuration, and support of our organization's Exchange environment, with a strong understanding of Exchange on-premises and Exchange Online. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in hybrid Exchange environments and related Microsoft 365 services, like Purview and Entra ID. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business needs, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvements in our email and collaboration infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Exchange Online & On-Premises Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain both Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange Server environments, including mail flow, mailbox management, hybrid configurations, and service health monitoring.
Hybrid Deployment & Migration: Lead and support hybrid Exchange deployments, migrations from on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online, and co-existence strategies to ensure minimal disruption.
Infrastructure Support: Maintain and troubleshoot on-premises Exchange Server environments (versions 2016, 2019, Subscription Edition), including server health, patching, updates, and backup/recovery procedures.
Security & Compliance: Expertise with Purview implementation and enforcement of security policies, data loss prevention, eDiscovery, retention policies, sensitivity labels, and compliance standards across both environments.
Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced support for email-related issues in hybrid environments, perform root cause analysis, and resolve complex problems promptly.
Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks across both on-premises and cloud platforms.
Migration & Integration: Plan and execute migrations from on-prem to online and across tenants, including mailbox moves, coexistence configurations, and integration with other Microsoft 365 services.
Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures; promote best practices for email security and infrastructure.
Collaboration & Training: Work closely with IT teams, end-users, and management to understand needs and deliver solutions; provide training or guidance as needed.
Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor service health, generate reports on usage, performance, and security metrics for both Exchange on-premises and online environments.
Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest Microsoft 365 and Exchange Server developments, updates, and industry trends to recommend improvements.
Qualifications
Must be U.S. Citizen willing to obtain Secret Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of experience managing Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online environments, preferably in a GCC-High environment.
Strong proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation for both on-premises and cloud environments.
Experience with hybrid Exchange deployments, migration planning, and management.
Strong expertise in email security, anti-spam, anti-malware, and compliance tools such as Proofpoint and Microsoft Purview.
Familiarity with security & compliance center.
Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS, SSL/TLS, and network configurations related to Exchange.
Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, Planner, Power Automate, and desktop Office suite.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and problem-solving ability.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Pay Transparency The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $107,000.00 - $179,000.00 annually. For all other states, local pay ranges are determined based on geographic cost of labor.
